Book review (glide below)
This is a condensed version if John’s previous book “The Complete Book of Self Sufficiency”. It is filled with chapters including food from the garden, food from nature, what to do with the produce in the kitchen, saving energy, producing less waste and using traditional crafts. There are also useful pages about the things you need to know before thinking about trying to be self sufficient. This and the original volume are real standard setters in terms of the amount of valuable advice that can be crammed into one small book. Dick Strawbridge praises John Seymour in his book “It’s not easy being Green” and it can be said that much of his advice 40 years on is still very valuable.

Book review (glide below)
This is an excellent book. It is separated into 10 parts, each dealing with a different element such as travel, wildlife, globalisation, economics, competition and co-operation. A very hard hitting, factual book which, for those who have read a number of other books on the subject, may be where you need to go next. This isn’t just about changing lightbulbs, however, and some of the realities of the effects that issues such as banking ethics, global debt and poverty have on the long term future of the planet may well shock you. Not a humerous slant on the issues involved, this is a serious, well informed book which offers 95 solutions to problems many of us can connect with.
