Book review (glide below)
Each of the 8 chapters deals with a green issue e.g. Energy, water, transport, biodiversity and waste. What makes this little book so special, though, is that each chapter is divided into three parts: you; you & your church and you & your community. The end chapter is entitled Sabbath and has ideas for resting and relaxing in sustainable ways. Very small but containing a large amount of practical ideas and thought-provoking material, including undertaking an eco audit for your church.

In the sequel to A New Kind of Christian, McLaren continues to use his characters Dan and Neo to tackle such issues as evolution and evangelism to death and the meaning of life. If you are searching for a deeper life with God, this book certainly stretched my understanding. We are blessed to be a blessing to others and rather than being pushed from the start of time, we are being called into the future with God.
This book stands alone from A New Kind of Christian as is perhaps an easier read as it journeys through the Bible.

The concluding part of the New Kind of Christian Trilogy. This time the fictional pastor Dan faces issues of hell and judgement and what they mean for uor relationship with God. Through it God's grace shines out. Forgiveness allows us to go forward and develop new ways of being church. Time magazine wrote "If the emerging church movement can survive in the politicized world of conservative Christianity, McLaren could find a way for young Evangelicals and more liberal Christians to march into the future together despite their theological differences".
As a set of three, these books have revitalised my ways of thinking about church and are highly recommended.

Book review (glide below)
We studied this book as a church congregation and a large number of people were enriched by it. It is suitable for new Christians and those who have been Christians a while as it focuses the mind on what is truly important. The 6 sections in the book are comprised of an introduction - What on earth am I here for? and 5 subsequent sections, called ‘purposes’. Each purpose is split into 7 sections hence they each take a week to complete. Additionally, the book has appendices with study questions, bible references and suggested additional resources that could be used.
